Sugar and Sweeteners.

This group includes a whole series of molecules, generally of natural origin. Sugars may be broken down into two main categories: sucrose, i.e. sugar from cane or beet on the one hand, and starch derivatives like glucose and maltose on the other.

These products of natural origin need decolorising and/or purifying. The problem to be treated determines the choice of carbon.

Thanks to its highly developed "adsorption macroporosity", phosphoric acid chemically activated carbon is highly recommended for decolorisation. Steam activated carbon is particularly effective in eliminating colour precursors and unwanted odours.

CECA also offers physico-chemical carbon and highly activated physical carbon; these are part of our customised solutions for treating the two types of impurities. Our Technical Support teams will be able to offer you the right solution to your needs.
