Surface dressing based on the “cold binder” cationic bitumen emulsion helps bond the chippings on the support while sealing the road surface against the ingress of water.
The choice of bitumen emulsion used for the dressing is determined by the type of structure required for the dressing, the road’s profile, the nature of the support, the period available for carrying out the work, and how soon the road is to be reopened to traffic.
Bituminous emulsion dressings are often multilayer dressings, i.e. their application cycle (laying, spreading of chippings and compacting) is repeated several times in succession on the same support.
